Abhinavagupta's Commentary on the Bhagavad Gita
(Gitartha-samgraha)

translated by Boris Marjanovic

Abhinavagupta's Commentary on the Bhagavad Gita (Gitartha-samgraha)

Abhinavagupta lived in Kashmir at the end of the 10th century. He was a great scholar and a prolific writer, as well as a highly accomplished yogi. In this commentary, Abhinavagupta explains that he composed this commentary because he felt that his predecessors had not understood the esoteric or secret meaning of the Bhagavad Gita. This text explores the message of the Gita in the context of the non-dualistic philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism and describes the practice of secret yoga at its core.
